Altering your routine or doing things a different way than you’re used to can be daunting, particularly when you’re unsure where to start. No worries, you’ve already taken the biggest move – choosing to make a change. Here are a few simple and minor changes you can make to help the environment in your daily life:
#1 EAT LOCALLY
By eating locally we mean buying and consuming food that’s grown, formulated, or produced near you, your region, Provence, or your country. Not only is it better for your health since locally grown foods are more nutritious and they taste even better but also very beneficial for the environment and here’s how :
1-Local food doesn’t have to be shipped nor transported across the world to arrive to your plate, so by opting for local produce you are spearing the planet from all the pollution that would have – been caused by transport.
2- It supports sustainable agriculture and encourages tracing back to the main point of origin of the supply chain in order to assess ecological practices.
3- It helps the local economy and supports local farmers and other producers like small local businesses.

#2. SWITCH TO REUSABLE BAGS
Plastic bags are toxic and do so much damage to the environment. They are not biodegradable and they are not recyclable, they remain in landfills ending up polluting the ocean. They can also suffocate animals that are trapped in them or they might mistake them for food and choke. Try to switch to reusable bags or cloth bags, they are stronger and will last you a long time but most importantly, no animal will choke on them!.
#3. SAVE POWER
This habit will help the environment as well as help you save money. First of all, try to take advantage of natural light as much as possible, and only light the room that you are occupying at the moment. You can also replace all the old light bulbs in your house with CFL light bulbs, they are energy-saving and Eco-friendly. They can last you up to five times longer than regular incandescent light bulbs and use significantly less electricity.
97.5% of water is trapped in seas and oceans, too salty for human use. And what remains of it is the ice caps. Therefore we must use it wisely and sparingly conserving it for the future. You could save water by simply using no more than what you need whether in showering or brushing or washing the dishes and make sure to always close the tap properly. Even when cooking, try to use only the amount you need when boiling water for example. You can also collect rainwater or leaking water from the Air Conditioner for activities like washing your car or watering your plants.
With the Increasing population comes more waste and because the amount of waste is increasing all the time and more and more each day, we must start taking recycling seriously. It is one of the best ways for you to have a positive effect on this planet, both for the natural environment and for us and our health. Recycling can even help us save energy since huge amounts of energy are used when making products from raw materials. Make sure to recycle whenever you can, as much as you can.
#6.SPREAD KNOWLEDGE ON HOW TO BE AN ECO-FRIENDLY LIFE SUPPORTER
Last but not least, as much as you have an impact on the environment, you also have an impact on other human beings, and your voice matter, so promote environmental consciousness in your community, to your friends, family, and on social media. Encourage them to buy reusable products and support Eco-friendly businesses. It’s also very important to include children and teach them the importance of being Eco-friendly so that they grow up to be environmentally-conscious adults.
In conclusion, these changes and habits that you incorporate in your daily life might seem insignificant or small but they are so important in the grand scheme of things and have a huge impact on preserving our environment for generations to come.
