Solar energy is one of the most important sources from which electricity is produced today. Therefore, every day, small and large solar energy projects for solar energy are established in various parts of the world, and this is due to the energy transformation and people’s interest in this clean source of energy sources.
In this article, I loved talking about some of the most important projects that have been installed in various regions of the world and in Africa in particular, and we will start by mentioning some of the projects that have been installed in Africa and then move on to the major projects in the world.
Big Solar energy projects in Africa
1.Noor solar complex (CSP) 580 MW
do you know that the biggest CSP solar park in Africa and in the world is in Morocco? in the municipality of Ouarzazate in the Agadir district, Noor solar complex
the first phase of the three-part project (Noor 2, Noor 3) Noor1 (1 in Africa and 6 in world) provides 160 MW of the total 580 MW capacity On a surface of Three football stadiums, 7,500 mirrors lined arose to capture the rays and directed to the Tower.
The country is investing $9 billion in the facility, which provides electricity for 2 million people. this Arabic country aims to generate its power from renewable energy in the future.
2. De-Aar Project- 175 MW
The Project Developed by Solar Capital.
De Aar one 85.26 MW
In South Africa, sitting on a Farm of 2674 hectares and it was finished 2014.
De-Aar three 89.74 MW
The project completed in 2016 on a surface of 191 hectares.
3. Benban Solar Project – 165.5 MW
located in the Aswan Province in Benban, Egypt. The solar park is med up of three solar power plants with an individual installed capacity of 67.5 MW, 70 MW, and 28 MW, respectively.
The Benban PV developed in 2018 by CHINT SOLAR, the project generates enough electricity to power 80,000 homes while offsetting approximately 156,000 of CO2 a year.
The 165.5 MW project was constructed by CHINT Solar by August 2018.
4. South Africa
In south Africa also there are lots of important solar parks as you see in the list below
- Kazu Solar One – 100MW
- Xina Solar One- 100 MW
- The Ilanga-1 (CSP ) -100 MW
- The Kathu Solar Park (CSP) -100 MW
- Jasper Solar Project -96 MW
- The Mulilo-Sonnedix-Prieska -86MW
- The Kalkbult Solar PV plant -75 MW

1.Shakti Sthala, Pavagada, Karnataka, India 2 GW
Located in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district, this solar project is the third project of the country it takes the title of country’s largest solar park in the three years.
The enormous 2,000 MW capacity park spans across 52.5 km2over five villages. The Pavagada solar farm produces enough electricity to power approximately 700,000 households.
2. Banban, Egypte 1.5 GW
The “Banban” complex for the production of solar energy is located 30 km north of the city of Aswan in Upper Egypt. The project includes 32 stations that were completed by more than 40 companies from 12 countries, including the Spanish Akiona and
Alcazar Energy Company, based in the Emirates, and the
Italian Enerai, Total Eneren, and EDF French, and included the Chinese Solar and the Norwegian Skatec Solar.
3.Kurnool Ultra Mega Solar Park, India 1 GW
Spread over 23 square kilometers, this solar park started in October 2017, had already generated over 800 million units of energy.
4. Longyangxia Dam Solar Park, China 850 MW
The Solar Park situated on a surface of km2 consists of 4 million panels. The Park
generates around 220-GW Hours of Electricity per year, which is the equivalent of powering 200,000 houses.
5.Kamuthi, Tamil Nadu, India 648 MW
Covers an area of 10 Km2, the project was considered to be the largest solar power system at a single location. The project contains 2.5 million individual modules and costs approximately 679 million$ to build.
Top solar panel manufacturer in the MENA
For a successful business, The installer must have all the equipment that he needs. And one of the types of equipment that he needs to have an abundance of is the solar panel. This is because solar panels are the ones that absorb radiation as a source of energy to generate direct current electricity.
