First electric vehicle in the Arabic world ( Nasr E70)

The electric vehicle is the only way to replace cars that run on fossil fuels, and the whole world is talking today about this new technology and its importance in preserving the environment and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
In today’s topic, we will talk about some Arab countries that started producing electric cars and electric car chargers.

Making an electric vehicle is “a starting step to keep pace with the global movement in the car market, as it is expected that the coming years will witness the gradual spread of electric cars, and experts’ expectations indicate that electric cars will have complete dominance by 2050.”

Is it approaching the date of making the electric Vehicle car that can be exported to the world?

Over the past two years, electric vehicle news in the Arab markets has received increasing attention from traditional and social media. Perhaps the most important thing that printed this news, the individual or collective initiatives launched in this or that Arab country to crystallize a comprehensive framework that allows the future promotion of the electric car or at least the hybrid on a large scale in these markets.

It was natural for the launch of a network of stations to supply cars with electricity in various regions in every Arab country, before thinking about establishing Arab industries around the electric car. (1)

The streets of Egypt are preparing for the first homemade electric car in 2022, following the announcement of the Ministry of Public Business.

The car will be manufactured at Al-Nasr Motor Company in cooperation with China’s Dong Feng Company, after the Egyptian company returned to work after a break of nearly 11 years, with the local component in the new car accounting for about 58 percent in the first phase, and then rising over the implementation years.

Price of the car

The price of the new car is set to start from £290,000 (approximately $18.3 thousand), with three categories to be subtracted according to battery and traffic capacity.
In conjunction with the first phase of the production of the new car, some 3 thousand electric charging stations will be established, and the commission formed to implement the new project from the Ministries of Business and Local Development is in the process of selecting the proposed premises for these stations.
The Executive Committee of the New Electric Car Project declared that there were incentive factors for the purchase of the “Nasr E 70,” including government support of £ 50 for the first 100 thousand buyers, according to specific controls, and taxi drivers could replace their old vehicles with electric ones.

Advantages and disadvantages of the electric vehicles

Abdel-Aty adds: “We can only judge the new car after its presence in the Egyptian streets to monitor its advantages and disadvantages more accurately, and the extent of its impact on the movement of the Egyptian car market, but in general, the beginning of thinking about the use of electric cars at the expense of traditional is a step forward

Tunisia hasn’t even started yet

In December-December 2020, the National Electricity Distribution Company of Tunisia and the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company signed a memorandum of understanding to focus on electric vehicle charging stations. This step is part of Tunisian efforts to move gradually from reliance on fossil energy sources to reliance on new and renewable sources of energy, as stipulated in the Paris Climate Agreement. The United Nations Organization leading multilateral climate negotiations has asked industrialized countries, emerging economies, and developing countries to identify national agendas aimed at reducing thermal emissions.

The Tunisian plan in this area provides for a 41 percent reduction in emissions by 2040. The Tunisian authorities rely heavily on the electric vehicle as an effective tool to turn this commitment into an achievement. However, civil society organizations take it that the Tunisian authorities do not provide sufficient incentives to make and accept the purchase of electric vehicles that can be imported. It also takes it not to start seriously to set up dedicated electric charging stations.

Morocco did not produce a car, but made the first electric charger

The first private electric car appeared in Morocco in 2013, many of which were imported, especially the US Sara Tesla. Today, Moroccan inventors were able to start it after they made the first Moroccan 100% smart charger for the electric car in 2020. These inventors are Moroccan engineers working at the Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies and the multi-disciplinary University of Mohamed VI. This is supported by Morocco’s Ministries of Industry and Energy.

It is expected that this smart charger will be manufactured at a rate of five thousand chargers annually before doubling this quantity. This charger will be offered in the Moroccan market at a price ranging between 780 and 980 dollars.
The inventors of the first Moroccan smart charger believe that this price is enough to make the charger stand out against the global competition and reach many markets in the African continent, at least.

Lebanese electric car

Palestinian businessman Jihad Mohammed, born in Lebanon through EV Electra, has been able to complete a project that includes the manufacture of an electric car called Jerusalem Reyes. The company employs approximately 300 Palestinians and Lebanese. In April 2021, Jihad Mohammed told people a sample of this car would be manufactured every year at 10,000 units, waiting to double the number in the coming years.

It is natural for many to wonder about the feasibility of manufacturing such a car in Lebanon, where the problem of the inability of the public sector and the private sector to meet the people’s minimum needs for electric energy is raised due to the corruption system that has been rampant in the country for decades.

Today, there is an optimistic proposition, whose owners say that Lebanon can quickly generate electricity at a rate that exceeds half of its electricity needs through new and renewable energies, especially solar energy. The proponents of this proposition add that Lebanon can actively contribute to an integrated Arab project financed by the public and private sectors and aims to manufacture Arab cars and trucks powered by electric power, part of which will gradually replace cars and trucks currently operating with fossil fuels in Arab countries, and the other part is exported to the markets of developing countries. Non-Arab and even industrialized countries.

Why you might want to buy an electric vehicle

With an increased supply of electric power from renewable sources, electric vehicles offer more environmental benefits than conventional fuel-burning engines as well. This is becoming increasingly well known among governments around the world with a wide range of incentives available to reduce purchase costs and corporate vehicle taxes. This, along with reducing the operating costs of the electric vehicle, creates an attractive financial condition for many people
